COVID-19 Update, September 2020
After a lengthy review process with our families, leadership & Council, we are ready to Roll for this Fall! Here are the major changes to our program:
100% outdoors! We are embracing our roots and getting back to basics!
Meetings will happen at the Den-level in smaller groups with masks & distancing
Pack Meetings will need to be canceled... we are just too big. Instead we will have weekend Pack-level events that families or dens can rotate through in small groups
More info available here: PACK 58 COVID GUIDELINES & DISCLOSURE
Pack 58 was first chartered in 1947 and is part of Mecklenburg County Council. Our chartering org is the Davidson Lion's Club. We also enjoy strong support from the local faith community including Davidson United Methodist Church, Davidson College Presbyterian Church, St. Albans Episcopal and Temple Kol Tikvah.
All elementary school children are welcome to join... that includes girls! Boys & Girls will be organized in separate "Dens" by gender & grade level. The "Pack" will meet as a whole the last Monday of the month. Since Pack 58 has always encouraged families & sisters to join in the fun, we expect this to be a great addition to our program!
Community Service is a priority for Pack 58. While selling Popcorn is the main source of funding for our program, the Pack sets aside a portion of net proceeds to fund Service Projects.
"Trees Davidson" has been a big partner of ours... the "Scouting for Food" Drive in February is also key!
Adventure Awaits with P58!
In 2020, Pack 58 has re-focused on Scouting's roots... THE GREAT OUTDOORS! We will continue sponsoring Camp-outs, hikes & Scouting Skills Days to get families outside in a way that is safe and in-line with the new NC guidelines. Our goal is to get Cubs unplugged and exploring! 2021 will be a great year!
A big part of Scouting is getting Cubs familiar with tent-camping and putting them right in the middle of nature... and all the challenges that presents! In March, we will have another camp-out at Fisher Farm to get in more experience.
Our Cub year has a grand finale at Raven Knob Scout Camp in Mt. Airy, NC. We are planning to have a scaled-back event in April 2021. We will have camping, hiking, scouting skills and fellowship! We cap things off with a special Pack Campfire, songs & a Cub Cross-over ceremony. More info to come!
Start your ENGINES!!
